It's clear. It's time for a change — it's time for the FairTax.
The current income tax system is broken. It's complicated, easy to evade, and unfairly burdens the lower and middle classes. And, attempts to fix it have only made it worse.

The FairTax is Fair:
It replaces the federal income tax system, which taxes what we earn, with a tax on what we spend. The Fair Tax is a consumption tax: the more you buy, the more you pay in taxes; the less you buy, the less you pay in taxes. So everyone pays fairly when they choose to spend. The FairTax:
  • Makes sure everyone pays their fair share
  • Lets you keep your entire Social Security, pension, paycheck, and capital gains
  • Un-taxes the poor with a rebate on the necessities of life
  • Protects Social Security and Medicare
  • Stimulates investment, economic growth and job creation
The FairTax is Simple:
  • NO Tax Filings
  • NO Loopholes
  • NO Hidden Taxes
The FairTax is Incredible: Read The FairTax Act of 2007 section 2, congressional findings. These findings make it clear why we must replace the tax code with a sales tax.

Indiana Carpool to the Ames, IA Rally, August 11-12

Americans for Fair TaxationAttention FairTaxers in Indiana, Illinois and Iowa:

Ron Heilman, Indiana State Director, will once again be providing two vans to caravan to Ames, Iowa for the next FairTax Rally, coinciding with the Republican debate.

The route could go from Fort Wayne through Indianapolis, north through the Chicago area and on across Illinois through Davenport, IA and on to Ames.

If you live in southern Michigan or northwest Ohio, you might be able to drive to Fort Wayne and hitch a ride as well.

Anyone wishing to ride with Ron and other FairTaxers should call Ron's office ASAP at 800-544-8120 to arrange a pick-up and work out the details.

Thanks! Sean O'Neil Asst. Director

Carpool to the May 15 FairTax Rally

Americans for Fair TaxationHey FairTaxers!

Ron Heilman will be taking a van down to Columbia, SC for the May 15 FairTax Rally. Anyone wishing to ride with Ron and other FairTaxers should call his office ASAP at 800-544-8120 to arrange a pick-up and work out the details. I would imagine a route from Fort Wayne through Indianapolis, Louisville, Lexington, Knoxville and on to Columbia, SC. If you're in those areas and would like a ride, call Ron. Ron is the Indiana state director for the FairTax. Thanks!

Sean O'Neil Ass't. Director - Indiana

The Linder Letter- FairTax momentum on Capitol Hill

The FairTax Book by Boortz/Linder
The opportunity for FairTax this year was obvious on the very first day of this 110th Congress. I reintroduced H.R. 25 on that day, and I did it with more than twice as many original cosponsors than we had for its introduction in the last Congress. Even more exciting, I was able to introduce the FairTax as a bipartisan bill for the first time since 2003. Congressman Dan Boren, a Democrat from Oklahoma , joined me and 23 other colleagues from 11 different states to reintroduce the bill on January 4, 2007. Never before has the FairTax been reintroduced with such broad support.

 Flat tax vs. FairTax

Indiana CD 5/Rep. Burton
The Muncie Free Press

To those who's comments favor a flat tax I wonder if you realize that we had that when Ronald Regan was president and look where it has grown to now. Going back to a flat tax is simply repeating the same old cycle.

 Grassroots News: Where's the Beef?

Americans for Fair Taxation
FairTax.org

1/29/2007

FairTax supporters have recently encouraged us to take a different approach to the Congressional Scorecard in measuring support for tax reform in general and the FairTax in particular. The grass roots have asked their representatives and senators to support the FairTax. The typical congressional response to these inquiries and letters is generally supportive of tax reform and certain elements of the FairTax Plan. Often, these congressmen are quick to add that they also favor elements of other proposals pending before the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees.

Bayh Joins Call For Audits of Major Companies

Fair Tax Indiana
InsideIndianaBusiness.com Report

1/22/2007 9:13:51 AM

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh (D) is joining several of his colleagues in a call for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to expand audits of major companies. Bayh says information shows the IRS has been cutting audits short. The senators say the gap between the amount of taxes businesses owe and the amount actually paid is estimated to be at about $300 billion each year.

New year, new majority, new support

Americans for Fair Taxation
It's a new year and the future of the FairTax is brighter than ever. FairTax Central in Houston is in the final stages of developing a new national strategy. Along with this strategy we will soon unveil new online capabilities that will give volunteers new tools and help us in Houston to be much more responsive to requests from leaders in the field.

There has been concern from some of our supporters that the FairTax is a "dead issue" now that the Democrats have taken control of Congress. Below are some talking points to combat this concern.
